In “Green Path” from Curran’s “Windows” series, the artist continues his exploration of perspective and the way it shapes our understanding. For Curran, the river of sky flowing between the treetops resembles the path taken through life: seen too close it appears meandering and ill-defined, divided and dammed by the obstacles in its way, only resolving into form once one has taken a step back. Whether the river leads into the forest or out from it is immaterial to him, as a person’s path is never well-marked and often leads where one least expects. Instead, he chooses to see the green: the green of the Earth, the green of life, the green light that beckons and whispers “go.”
